Natural gas prices on the NYMEX gained by more than 2 percent on short covering after a recent bout of selling. On the MCX, prices gained by more than 2 percent taking cues from strength in international markets.

On the inventory front, injection season has already started and this week inventory report is also expected to show a surplus exerting downside pressure on prices.
