U.S. natural gas futures edged higher on Monday as cooling demand exceeded heating demand for the first time this year. Front-month natural gas futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange settled up 1.4 cents, or 0.3 percent, at $4.688 per million British thermal units. The weather models project there will be 82 cooling degree days over the next two weeks, well over the normal 62 for this time of year. Heating degree days, meanwhile, are only expected to reach 60, well below the normal 79 for this time of year. We expect Natural gas prices to move down further over lower heating demand.
